Almost done...

I'm still working on my first entry. Need to work on the shadows in my face a bit more, the wings, and finish the background. I will have this done and ready to mail off to Kerstin (in Germany) tomorrow. I kind of messed up on the pages however. I thought I was opened to the first page as I started roughing in the figure, however I was one whole spread off... so this is actually pages 3 & 4 you see here. I am hoping Kirsten or someone else will fill in the first couple of pages. If not, then I will fill them in the next time I see my Moly (5-6 months from now). :)

Where is my Moleskine?

Here you can check out the current position of your Moleskine:
  • (1) Joyce (Occam`s razor), Taiwan - no moly
  • (2) Leah Felicity (leahfelicity), USA - working on (2) and (?)
  • (3) Martha (trumpetvine), USA - no moly
  • (4) Lisa (rightside), USA - working on (1) and (3), sending off (4) and (5)
  • (5) Kerstin (blackvampire), Germany - no moly

Well...,just as I said in this little post-it note, I don`t really set a clear theme in my book, just feel free when you get my moleskine ;)

My moly to go

I just sent my book to Leah this afternoon, look out!

First exchange coming up this week

We have only 3 more days to send off the Moleskines. A lot of us have already posted some scans here and the work has been fantastic and fun to look at.
As it is our first exchange, it would be nice if everybody could comment here, whether you have sent off your moleskine, if you are going to be late or maybe even have left the group ;), etc. That will help the whole group to keep up to date and to organize changes quickly.
  • Joyce (Occam`s razor), Taiwan - on its way to
  • Leah Felicity (leahfelicity), USA - sending soon to
  • Lee (piechocki), USA - ?
  • Martha (trumpetvine), USA - sending soon to
  • Lisa (rightside), USA - sending soon to
  • Kerstin (blackvampire), Germany - on its way to
Please also tell us when you receive a moleskine!

End Pages....

Oops, forgot to add the other photos. ;-)

Getting Closer.....

The theme, cover, and end pages are done...now time to work on my three pages and send it to Kerstin on Monday...

I used to draw & paint self portraits all the time as a way to express difficult emotions. Sometimes it makes me feel very uncomfortable, but who better to draw than the one I know best. When I see photos of myself I usually ponder...is that what I really look like?...with self portraits I get to portray the emotional part of who I am, which ultimately makes me look quite different than what the camera captures. So the challenge I give to my fellow Moly X 20 group is to introduce and express themselves though their own self portrait.

Please post your progress here to keep the group updated.

I got my moleskine today

Yes! I got my moly today, but I still struggling in my entry, there`s no idea come to my mind these days, I`ll be pretty busy about my application for university until August, it`s been a long time since last time I went to bookstore to search some art books or magazines..., but don`t worry I`ll send my book on time.

Have fun ;)

Joyce

The blog...

Hey guys, does anyone has any idea about the blog? I`m thinking to add some widgets to the blog, maybe a cbox, links picture or twitter?
How do you guys think?

btw, I just saw this incredible drawing from gabi campanario , this is a really great idea!

Have a very nice weekend to everyone.
Cheers

Administrators

If there are any questions regarding the exchange just post it in the comments or maybe also write it as an extra post if it is something which may concern everybody. If it is more private, you can also send us an email.
Joyce is going to be the second administrator of the blog. We are doing this together to insure that one of us will be online so we can help you out (when needed). Sometimes I´m not online (Saturday, vacation, holidays, etc.) and then it is nice to know that there is someone taking care of any issues. Thanks Joyce!

BTW: This Friday afternoon till Monday night I won´t be online. I hope to come back to lots of new images here. (Just kidding!)

Moleskine Sketch

Gabi Campanario (whose art I admire) has drawn a wonderful drawing of the Japanese fold Moleskine. On it you can see that if there are 6 participants and if you start with the first pull out page, everybody gets the chance to draw 2.5 pages twice in every Moleskine. That means all the moleskines will be completed at the same time.
I think it will be nice to keep this in mind, but it doesn´t matter if one uses a bit more or a bit less space. I also like the idea of using half pages. That makes the blending easier.
What do you think? Do you want the art to blend in your Moleskine? Or do you prefer to have each extra? Will you have themes? Or will you leave that open for each artist?

Mythology Moleskine

Moly_X_20

My husband needed a centaur pic, so I drew this here and I think I really like it. My Moleskine will have the theme "mythologie".
I do not care too much about everybody having to do this theme. Feel free to add what you feel comfortable with and use whatever colors or other stuff you want to.

Moly_X_20

Welcome to moly_x_20!

This group, founded by Kerstin Klein (Germany), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventures of a group of artists from around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (2.5 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right.

3. Each artist will do around 2.5 pages each round. As we are 6 participants everybody will then get the Moleskine twice until it gets returned to its owner. But feel free to sometimes use a little more or less than 2.5 pages.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
